Part-time Customer Services Library Assistant I, Level I, Grade III
Customer Services Department
The Customer Services Department has a position opening for part-time Library Assistant I, Level I, Grade III. The current wage range is $12.59 to $17.37 per hour; and there are Level I employee benefits associated with the position, per the current Personnel Policy.
This is an 8-19 hour per week “non-exempt” position with a work schedule that requires daytime, evening, and weekend hours. This full service Customer Services Department serves our patrons in a streamlined, efficient manner.
We are seeking friendly, energetic, self-motivated individuals who are great in welcoming a diverse group of patrons. Most Duties include: answering directional questions and assisting patrons in the use of library collections, and equipment; maintaining circulation records and other lists; contacting persons for lost/damaged items; checking library materials in/out; issuing library cards; collecting fines; calling reserves; and other clerical duties associated with a busy public service desk.
Some college or special library training or related library experience is desirable, including knowledge of current audiovisual materials. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Publisher) is a plus. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

The Oak Lawn Public Library, Administration Department, has a position open for a full-time Graphic Designer, Grade VIII. This position will design and execute a
variety of communications materials. The Graphic Designer will develop innovative and strategic marketing, communications and branding solutions.
This is a 37.5 hour per week “exempt” position with a work schedule which includes daytime, evening and weekend hours as needed. The salary range is
$38,153.04 - $54,774.72 and includes a full benefits package, per the current Personnel Policy. Benefits include: Four weeks annual vacation, sick and
personal leave allowance, health insurance, IMRF pension plan and life insurance.
Duties of the position include: being responsible for the artistic development and appearance of all Library promotions; ensuring brand and design consistency;
and communicating with staff regarding design of publications and displays.
Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline related to graphic design; at least two years’ experience designing marketing materials; proficient in current design software, including
Adobe Creative Suite. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and must be creative and deadline-oriented. Training or experience in the work of libraries or
non-profits is highly desirable. Web page design, electronic media and illustration skills highly preferred.

Part-time Library Assistant I, Computer Center
The Oak Lawn Public Library Computer Center is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys working with technology, learning new technology, and assisting the public.
We are looking for a part-time (Level 1 – 8-19 hours per week) “non-exempt” Library Assistant I, Grade III. The salary range starts at $12.59 per hour,
commensurate with experience. The position will include a schedule 14 hours a week, consisting of afternoon, evening, and weekend hours in the Computer Center.
• Staffing the Computer Center desk to provide general information and directional information to patrons
• Assisting patrons with technology, including computers, printers, scanners, copiers, and other available technology
• Assisting patrons with reserving study rooms and monitoring study room usage
• Helping to maintain Computer Center equipment (replacing printer toner, submitting help desk tickets as needed, etc)
• Other duties as assigned
• High school diploma or equivalent, some college or special library training is desirable
• One year experience working with the public, library experience preferred
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• General knowledge of Windows operating system, Microsoft Office programs, internet browsers, and basic computer skills
• Willingness to learn and assist with new technologies
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Part-time Library Associate, Grade VI
Adult & Young Adult Services Department, Young Adult
The Adult & Young Adult Services Department is seeking a Part-time Library Associate (8-19 hours/week) with a special area of focus on serving teens in grades 9-12.
This is a “non-exempt” position with a work schedule that includes evening and weekend hours. Current wage range begins at $16.77 per hour, and there areLevel 1 employee benefits associated with this position, per the current Personnel Policy.
Proposed hours for this position include two weekday evenings 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and a regular weekend rotation 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated and flexible individual who is enthusiastic about working with teens. Duties include: Providing basic reference and
readers’ advisory services for high school students, coordinating projects for teen volunteers, recommending Young Adult materials for purchase, assisting with
programming for teens, overseeing a MakerSpace in the Teen Room, creating displays, writing articles and posts for the library website, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or LTA Certificate. Experience working with teens in a public library or educational setting is desirable. Fundamental
knowledge of MS Office, YALSA Teen Services Competencies, and social media is required. A background in teen fiction and pop culture is essential. Must have
a good concept of customer service. Must have the ability to meet and work with teens of diverse backgrounds easily and to communicate effectively both orally,
in writing, and online. Must have the ability to manage time effectively.

Youth Services Department
The Youth Services Department has a position opening for a part-time Page, Grade I. Starting wage is $9.63 per hour.
This is an 8-19-hour per week “non-exempt” position with a work schedule that includes evenings, some days and weekend hours.
Duties include: Shelving of library materials; shifting books; shelf-reading; keeping the department in good order;
and possibly assisting other staff with department displays, programs, and special projects.
