    A. (5 ILCS 120/2) Open Meetings Act. ILCS (c) Exceptions. A public body may hold closed meetings to consider the following subjects: (1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body. (2) Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. (11) Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular public body has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the public body finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the minutes of the closed meeting.

Oak Lawn voters elect trustees for six-year terms. The Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:45pm in the Oak Lawn Rotary Room (lower level); the public is always welcome.
The Board of Trustees of the Oak Lawn Public Library is responsible for governance and overseeing the provision of Library services to meet the needs of the Oak Lawn community.
To this end, the Board shall:

  1. Determine Library policies
  2. Employ a capable Library director
  3. Secure adequate funds for Library operations
  4. Approve expenditure of Library funds
  5. Provide and maintain adequate facilities
  6. Ensure a representative selection of Library materials
  7. Promote use of the Library within the community
