Holiday Concert:
Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School

concert bandThe Oak Lawn-Hometown MiddleSchool Jazz Band, directed by John Kehl, and Concert Chorus, directed by Virginia Ebner, will present selections from their winter program on Monday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Library.

 Join us for a fun evening of holiday favorites and swing band classics. No advance registration required.

Library's Holiday Tree!

Make an ornament at home to bring in or color a paper ornament at the library. Ornament shapes will be available to color at the library from November 15 thru December 15. (A drop-off container for ornaments made at home is located in the library's lobby.)

“Toys for Tots” Campaign Underway

 

Bring holiday joy to those less fortunate by participating in a “Toys for toysTots” drive sponsored by the Oak Lawn Public Library. Gifts for children up to age 12 may be dropped off in the library’s lobby from Friday, Nov. 25 through Thursday, Dec. 29.

Items should be unwrapped so that they may be sorted according to age and gender. No stuffed animals, please.


Free Family Movie: Winnie the PoohPooh

The Library will host a free family movie screening of “Winnie the Pooh” on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m.

Eyeore has lost his tail, and Winnie the Pooh and his friends hold a contest to get him a new one.

Rated: G. Running time: 63 min.


Registration for Youth Services Programskids

Registration for Winter/Spring 2012 begins Monday, Jan. 2 and continues through Saturday, Jan. 15 – or until full. Each child’s library card must be presented at the time of registration.

Additional information regarding activities and events is listed in a program booklet that you may pick up at the library or view here.


Young Adult Online Book Club

Sign up is already underway at the library's Help Desk. A new book will be chosen each month and the online discussion will be featured through goodreads – a site that allows readers to keep track of books they have read, plan to read or are currently reading.

Other features include book reviews and suggestions based on previous "library" selections. Registration on Goodreads is required for participation.


Movie Check-Out for Minorsmovies

Beginning  Jan. 2, 2012, parents may visit the Circulation Desk to sign a form giving their children and teens permission to check out movies.

Children and teens will be allowed rental rights on their individual Oak Lawn Library cards, provided a parent or guardian has submitted a signed permission form.

Movie rentals are $0.50 per item for Oak Lawn residents.
